You could try a magnet but may take some time to get it out. Only idea I have but a common problem as I know having a daughter.

If washing machine is provided by landlady included in rent and you haven't done anything deliberately to damage it (ie wear and tear), isn't it her responsibility to fix it for you, not the other way round?
Just wondering.

Maybe a crochet hook would be able to pull it enough to get a pair of pliers on it

I would suggest you go and flash your eyelids and ask Hampshires in the village as to whether there is a solution.
However, many years ago I worked at a home for disabled people where they had volunteer carers living in. Many of them were Danish youngsters in a Gap year. The maintenance guy used to regularly moan about the wires, as he had to remove the washing machine drum to remove them. Suggest you put your bras into one of those netting bags in future; but we all do it.

Yes I'm renting but landlady said I needed to fix it as it's a wire from an item of clothing. Grrrr. Still poking around with abother wire to try to pull it out!
Hampshire electrical shop say call out fee is £60 plus parts!!! Madness.

Richard at Gillet and Holden, Wey Hill is very helpful and not expensive.

Thank you for your replies.
I've got Richard from Gillette and Holden coming out Monday. Spent hours poking around and driving myself potty yesterday trying to get it out. Apparently Richard has a knack!!! Thank you.

Hi

I had the same problem before and got someone out to fix it. There are a few things they try but the first one is to turn the drum left and right (or clockwise and anticlockwise) a few times only by a couple of inches and the wire jumped out. Something about the rocking motion can free it. It doesn't always work apparently but worth a shot.

Did Richard manage to fix your washing machine?
