Any conservation volunteering opportunities locally?
- Jo (21st Jul 2016 - 11:43:46)
Hello, I have a 17 yr old very interested in using some of his summer holidays to volunteer on any local conservation projects.
We have contacted Alice Holt, Queen Elizabeth Country Park and The Wildlife Trust, all have nothing available locally - he can't drive as yet.
If you are aware of anything happening please do let me know as I don't want to waste his current enthusiasm :)
Thanks, Jo

Have you tried either the National Trust or English Heritage. The National Trust own various pockets of land locally which may need support.

Difficult to get to, but Frensham Pond have volunteering opportunities an a couple of (paid) seasonal rangers each year (from Easter to end of summer - but all taken this year - look out for the advert in Feb time I think). The National Trust at the Little Pond also have volunteering opportunities too... both a pain to get to. There may be some at NT @ Devils Punchbowl or at Swan Barn in Haslemere (short walk from the station).

Might I suggest you contact Liphook in Bloom.
They are always looking for volunteers and I'm sure they would welcome someone who could help out over the summer.
Check out their website for contact details, or click on the link to the left.
