TPO'ed Oak tree pruning
- Nic (30th Jun 2016 - 13:46:25)
We're looking into having a large oak tree pruned and wondering if anyone had any recommendations and idea of costs? I understand that we need council permission as well.

You can look on East Hants website and check to see if your tree has a TPO on it.
Give Graham Taylor Forestry a call, and he will be able to help you out fully.

Give the tree officer a call at the Council. He/she (there are two of them) may not be able to recommend but could point you in the right direction. They probably couldn't tell you about costs though.
Both of them are lovely.

Don't expect it to be cheap .
Tree surgery is a dangerous profession with kit costs & equipment running into thousands but people seem to forget this when wanting quotes.
Not having a pop , just making you aware. Also make sure they are fully insured & hold the relevant NPTC 's, if in doubt ask to see them . Use a qualified reputable Tree surgeon, not just someone who says they can do the job for you.
Good luck :)

Thanks, the tree definitely has a tpo.
I realise it's going to be costly, was hoping for an indication of how costly in order to brace myself!

We've used Liphook Tree surgeons a couple of times. Actually from recommendations on here. They are reasonably priced and very good.
Their number is 07920 057009

Second for Graham Taylor.
He and his guys are always efficient, clean and tidy when ever we've used him and at a good price.
Call him and he'll give you a quote and he'll also point you in the right direction regarding permissions.

It is the District Council who are the body to refer to for TPO trees in this area not the County Council. I believe it is called the heritage dept. The info is on the EHDC website. I do not believe the application costs anything but there is a consultation period and I think they will also send a letter to the neighbours informing them of your intentions.

Hiya, just been on the EHDC site to research whether a tree giving me a problem is TPO'd and the "webmapping" link doesn't work. Any other way of looking online? Thanks
