Baby groups
- Pamela (28th Nov 2015 - 20:37:23)

Are there any recommendations for fairly small, friendly baby groups in the area for a 9week old baby and his mum who would rather stay at home or take him for a walk on their own than be social but knows she needs to get out meeting other people and little ones for babies sake!

As a new Grandma, and mother of a 37 year old (!), I feel for you and understand exactly what you mean. I cannot offer you a local link to what you want, I wish I could. But I'm thinking about it and remembering how I did not want to participate in "group" events, coffee mornings etc. I hope I understand what you're saying. I shall keep thinking.

Friday morning, 10-12, at the church centre on Portsmouth road. It's a very quiet group, usually only 10 mum's with varying ages of children, but very friendly!

Firstly congratulations on your new arrival!

Do you drive? If so there's a lovely little group called Baby Talk on a Monday morning 9.30-11.30 at The Royal School in Hindhead (the entrance is on the roundabout at the top of the slip road to the southbound A3 at Hindhead). It's a drop in group so you can arrive any time and you'll receive a warm welcome and tea and biscuits. It was the first group I went to with my eldest son and I try to get there when I can with my youngest who's 3 months old.

If you're on Facebook I'd recommend joining the NCT Haslemere, Midhurst & Surrounding branch group as they run regular coffee mornings and give details of other groups etc. You don't have to be an NCT member to go to the coffee mornings. Another good group is Haslemere Bumps and Babies which has posts about other groups.

I think there's also a baby group in Liphook but I'm not sure of the details. Hopefully someone else can help with this but if not I'll try to find out. I think it's run by sure start so maybe your health visitor would have the info

Hi Pamela,
Congratulations on the birth of your baby.
Wednesday mornings 10:30 at Liphook Methodist Church, London Road, GU30 7AN is a music session for babies and crawlers. (Next to Library)

The sessions are put together with early communication and bonding time in mind, usually with one of the baby's main carers. This allows babies and a main carer to socialise in a relaxed atmosphere. Lots of singing with instruments and much, much more. Songs will incorporate some action and movement e.g. lifting which the babies love so much. We encourage eye-tracking and gentle stretches through our songs.

There will be a chance to explore soft toys, musical instruments and play peeka-boo games with colourful scarves.

The sessions are made up of 40 minutes songs and action and 20 minutes where the babies have a chance to explore a range of activities on offer, while the parents catch up over a cup of tea or coffee. We finish the session with bubbles, parachutes and our good-bye song.

Hope to see you soon.

thanks Vera

Thank you all for your replies. Is the church centre where the Monday group is the one on London road near the library? Sorry to ask so many questions, I am not only a new mum but fairly new to the area too so still learning my way around!

Sign up for Baby Sensory in Grayshott. Absolutely the best thing I did with my baby. You may get a space for January if you're quick
