I have seen many pathetic "tribute bands" locally, the ticket price to see them has usually been in the region of £15-20 pounds a ticket, that price usually bumped up by the amount of money the band have to pay their promoter and entertainment agent. The evening is an amateur night. If you do not want to see it D do not buy a ticket, but leave the organisers alone!

The point I was initially trying to make is that I would be quite happy to watch an evening of tribute acts but not am- dram performers. However, as with so many of the contributions to this site, the whole thing has been taken out of context and blown up into something it is not.

Re: Stars In Your Eyes - WOW !! - Susie (12th Jun 2015 - 08:09:25) No it hasn't been cancelled, we had several singers pull out at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances so we have arranged with them to move it to September/ October when, following ongoing negotiations with a band, we will bring you an even bigger event. Final details will be published soon we are just in talk with the MH about dates. This gives the rest of you more time to sort yourselves out and practice for the remaining 2 slots we currently have.

Someone tries to organise a talent show for an evenings entertainment and the response on this thread has been appalling! Why? Is this some sort of sabotage? What possible reason has anybody got for such negativity ?

Re: Stars In Your Eyes - WOW !! - ellie (13th Jun 2015 - 20:21:26) I think it was not Lamps who were organising that like the Stars in your eyes evening, but the person who was managing the Venue at the time? it was maybe more down to the choice of band than the venue. I personally would not pay to see a group who are always performing in our local pubs, when I can hear them perform for nothing. I checked the website, and they were due to perform in a pub locally on the following Friday. Anyone who wanted to see them play would have waited until then. Perhaps a bad choice of group.

I saw a website for singers to apply to sing in a competition, as simple as that, or so I thought, as one of my daughters was thinking of going in for it, so what on earth is this all about? Is it anything to do with all this scandal with the hall? Why oh why can not anything be organised in Liphook without this constant bickering. We need more local things going on in Liphook so stop being so negative.

It was not being organised by the Millennium Hall staff, other than it was due to be held there. Sounds like a great event so very much hope it goes ahead later on this year.

What we already have... Great venue (LMH) Bar (well stocked) Production Team (LAMPS - makes for a slick show) The best compare (already signed) Great Lighting & Sound (LAMPS & LMH) Dance Floor (cause you probably want to go for it) Top Cabaret Atmosphere Singers & Bands welcome... whos in...? Just need a great audience - who coming...?

Due to us all starting new jobs within the last few months we have put it on hold although everything is still there and almost ready to go. We will keep you posted and hopefully we will get our heads round it all and move on with our plans. Chris, thank you for the offer of lighting but as a theater company we have our own and a talented man who does already. Unfortunately this means we wont be putting on a panto or having a carnival float either this year. A years rest hopefully means we come back stronger next year. Please keep practising, we will get there.
