- Brian (27th Mar 2015 - 23:50:04)

What are your licensed hours until closing and on which nights?

And have you thought about some sort of sound metering to monitor and adjust the banging music noise your knocking out every weekend which rattles our windows on the far side of the rec?

Gladly we away this weekend, my kids can get a decent nights sleep for a change.

- Easter bunny (3rd Apr 2015 - 00:20:12)

Hi Brian,
Happy Easter. It's good to know that the fundraising event will not disturb you at all as you said that you're away. I hope to get every hopping on this day for a fab cause. As you can't hop along I will try to make sure we hop and bop on your behalf. Have a lovely Easter weekend.

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Helen (3rd Apr 2015 - 09:43:26)

Goodness me Brian! Had to read your reply twice as thought it was a joke...!

A day of fun at the local pub to raise money for a charity....COUNT ME IN!!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Pete (3rd Apr 2015 - 10:35:37)

What Charity will benefit? Will you be publishing details of money raised?

I don't suppose this is just a ploy to boost takings or am I being cynical?

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Clair (3rd Apr 2015 - 16:08:22)

The charity money is going to my nephews charity! T9M is a very rare diease only 12 people have it in the uk and is a proper charity! We raised 5k last wk end climbing snowdon and am very thankful to the green dragon for trying to help!!!!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Ian (3rd Apr 2015 - 19:48:27)

This site really does bring out both the best and worst (Pete and Brian) in our village.

Have a good day Green Dragon and ignore the small minded grumps and cynics

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Rachael (3rd Apr 2015 - 20:13:53)

Presumably Pete, as you made a barely concealed public accusation you will now make a public apology?

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Clair (3rd Apr 2015 - 20:32:01)

I don't usually look on this site or add my views but it is very apparent that some people have nothing better to do but moan etc!! Makes me laugh! Go out have fun rather than sit on here moaning!!
Am very happy that the green dragon are trying to help my sister and her two yr son to try and help others with this disease!! If it was Brian or Pete's kids am sure they wouldn't be moaning about noise etc!!!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- dave the green dragon (3rd Apr 2015 - 20:47:37)

I would like to say the fun day is for charity as I don't need to try things like you say to boost my trade I hope you never have to rely on a charity for any illness as what you have accused is sick and small minded and to put the record straight as for the banging noise you hear is not from here as the police were here on the night you say and they were happy they couldn't hear anything from outside the door but if you would like to come in and talk to me feel free door is always open Dave happy Easter to all of you and there will be proof how much we raise and I will donate money from my own pocket would you like to match it

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Kaz (3rd Apr 2015 - 21:33:18)

Ok firstly I live the far side of the rec to and it's not the music from the green dragon secondly this is for a good cause to raise money you know getting in the community spirt ect like Clair said its raising money for her nephew and of u would like to know how much we raid to this good cause we will gladly tell u

Strange that the people who make appalling remarks only go by their Christian name!

Under age drinkers
- Karen (5th Apr 2015 - 19:11:09)

hi I don\\\\\\\'t normally comment on these things but I\\\\\\\'m greatly pissed off with everyone singing the praises of the Green Dragon, maybe you don\\\\\\\'t have to boost your trade as you already have enough underage drinkers coming into the pub and my step daughter being one from last night drinking skittle bombs and getting drunk as she is only 17. There was a time when the dragon was a great and welcoming pub for young and old without the skimpily dress bar staff that we witnessed in recent weeks.
People need to remember that it is a village pub and not a night club just to get drunk.

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- May Li (5th Apr 2015 - 19:35:21)

was lovely to pop in for the family funday - thanks for organising hope the rest of the evening goes well

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Lily (6th Apr 2015 - 00:52:58)

Karen,
I find your the description of the female bar staff somewhat degrading.in this day and age any woman should be able to choose their clothing without fear of stereotypical judgements on what is appropriate or not. I think the ladies who work there are well turned out, articulate and are an asset to the establishment.
You raise concerns about underage drinking. If your step daughter is underage then I suggest you allow her to only have supervised parties and gatherings, or be aware of where she is at all times. I know that I would not have my son exposed to the chance and opportunity to drink in any pub. I know where my son is at all times.
Passing the buck is not really a solution to the rebellious problem you are facing.

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Clair (6th Apr 2015 - 12:40:57)

I agree with lily! U can't blame the green dragon for your step daughter getting drunk!! Surely that is down to u to make sure she is not going in the pub! They can't id everyone that goes in there!!!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- julie (6th Apr 2015 - 16:32:23)

I was in there christmas eve and I thought that 2 of the young women behind the bar could have done with a bit more skin covered, crop tops and short skirts are a bit eye candyish, not a pleasant experience for a woman with her husband. As for "passing the buck", yes they can and have a legal obligation to ID everyone that looks under 25

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Karen (6th Apr 2015 - 16:51:11)

As a pub they have a legal [that means by law] obligation to confirm that any persons who look under 25 years of age is over the age of 18.
Taking into account that the owner is fully aware of how old this particular individual is!!! This is not the first that underage persons have been served on the premises and probably won't the last.
As for the clothing issue I know one young lady who was asked to wear more revealing clothing when working which is why she is an ex-barmaid of this particular pub.

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Toni (6th Apr 2015 - 17:05:31)

I think you will find, Lily, that it is the responsibility of the pub landlord to check ages of his customers.

I'm also amazed that you know where your son is at all times - I assume he is still in a pram.

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- the green dragon (7th Apr 2015 - 22:16:23)

its a shame theres been no comment from pete or brian on here i will have the paperwork from dreams come true so you can come and see for yourself that theres proof of the charity money i will be pleased to meet you as i don't know you and then i will judge you as you have me but i wont do that till i have met you hope to see you soon

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- colin (7th Apr 2015 - 23:36:26)

Crikey, why can't people post negative things, if they have to, on a different thread. This was about a positive contribution to the village/charity and thats all it should have been.

If you want to moan, go and speak in person or create another thread if you have to but dont rubbish the green dragons chance of positive contribution by hijacking this one, albeit too late now but remember for future posts.

Editor - can you not moderate this by requesting a new post if not relevant to original posting (appreciate not always clear but may make some think twice and prevent more people getting fed up with anything positive being made negative)

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- the green dragon (8th Apr 2015 - 09:25:52)

thank you colin

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- tony (8th Apr 2015 - 10:48:35)

Karen, I think you've just doubled their business with those 'skimpy bar maid revelations', I'll be down there this weekend!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Pete (8th Apr 2015 - 14:55:53)

You said earlier that the fund raising was in aid "T9M" but there is a thank you from Dreams Come True.
I'm sure DCT is a very worthwhile charity but why the change?

And you wonder why I am cynical!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Ian (8th Apr 2015 - 15:24:12)

Still no apologies then Pete. Other names for you come to mind other than cynical!

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Kaz (8th Apr 2015 - 16:53:14)

I am one of the bar maids at the green dragon I put this post up as a positive thing and it's turned into an all out war of words like every other post on here I so wear t-shirts to work some times there low cut some time se there not but it gets hot behind the bar and I'd rather be comfortable than dripping in sweat

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Pete (8th Apr 2015 - 17:17:50)

What am I supposed to apologise for?.

No answer to my question !

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Ian (8th Apr 2015 - 19:09:42)

Pete, as you need reminding, to quote you, " I don't suppose this is just a ploy to boost takings". And before you claim the no doubt the event did boost the pubs takings, so what, it also made a lot of money for the charity concerned and all the readers of this post fully know what the intended inference was by your original comment.

Now man up, admit your original comment was ill conceived and apologise for it

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- the green dragon (8th Apr 2015 - 19:17:58)

answer to your question PETE we was going to do it for T9M but the paperwork was not sent in time we couldn't do it for them because of allegations that you get from some people we cannot take the risk of just collecting money without the paperwork so hope that answers your questions and is there anything else you would like to accuse me of as i don't know you i think your very rude if you would give me your address i would gladly sent you the letter from dreams come true or your welcome to come and see it i might even get you a pint on the house but doubt it very much

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- Tanya Wilkinson (8th Apr 2015 - 20:24:29)

Wow I think its Fantastic that the Green Dragon had a charity fundraising day, not enough of this sort of thing is being done enough these days.
As to other comments, as an ex licensee, i would like to say, firstly the underage drinking, It is the landlords responsibility to check anyone that looks under 21 is ID checked, There are a lot of very good fake IDs out there. and that the bar staff are all trained how to check Id and if in doubt not serve due to the fines they can receive, and that they could loose their licence. Having said that I have seen rife underage drinking (far more than the dragon) in The Anchor. The law also says staff of a licenced premises should NOT serve anyone that is drunk ! This is a very grey area as someone who has had 5 pints can appear still the right side of drunk.
Secondly The young 17yr old girl who got drunk, sounds to me she was going to get drunk wherever she was and with whoever she was with, meaning someone older could have got alcohol and they drank it in a park or such like. This situation is down to the control and discipline instilled by the parents.
Lastly as to what the young ladys working behind the bar wear, well if they have the confidence and balls to wear it, then good on them. No one should tell a woman how and what to wear. Women do not dress just to please men, it could be for another woman, or heaven forbid, because it makes them feel good.

With regards to the way the barmaids dress........I didn't realise that Mary Whitehouse was alive and kicking and living in liphook

Re: Easter Sunday funday green dragon
- andy w (9th Apr 2015 - 21:08:03)

I have lived in this village all my life and its seems that any charitable event that is organised that doesn't involve the carnival or the liphook fiasco (liphook cycle ride) is frowned upon. why cant people just let events happen without all the malice. Some has tried to do a good deed raising money and most of the village attack them for doing it, why cant people just let them do it and not turn nasty
