Street Lighting
- AM (29th Jan 2015 - 17:47:28)

Victoria Way has various street lights, some work and some don't. Could anybody tell me who is supposed to repair the broken lights as the one outside my house has been off for several months now and it is pitch black in the cul de sac. I have contacted EHDC and HCC and both say they do not have these on their list and they could not offer any advice as to who can repair them.

I had a very rude note attatched to my car windowscreen last year when I parked there, telling me I was not allowed to park there because it was a private unadopted road. It was a very rude note, so I suggest then the residents themselves could be responsible, they are unlikely to be looked after by the local authority, or the note would not have been left for me.

The previous poster is correct - if it is a private road the owner(s) are responsible. If it is on adopted road 9 times out of 10 it would be Hampshire County Council.

However, with the new street lights (were they upgaded in the last 12 - 15 months?) they should be letting HCC know automatically with the new technology.

According to Hampshire County Council website it is not an adopted highway therefore street lights will most likely be responsibility of developer or a residents association that has been set up to repair the road etc.

Take a look at the original Transfer which your solicitor should have provided to see who is responsible for what.
