Fibre optic broadband experience in Liphook
- Cecilia Duong (23rd Jan 2015 - 16:19:28)
I live near the Liphook Junior & Infant school and I am thinking of switching to fibre optic broadband. Just like to know about people's experience, good or bad,any ISP I should avoid, how much your ISP charge, etc etc.
Thanks.

Hi,
As far as I'm aware we are still waiting for BT fibre broadband.
Many small and medium businesses will benifit as well as homes.
Living in a rural area we always lag behind cities and towns.
Fingers crossed for this year !

Some friends of mine who have it (just over the A3 on Headley Road) have had a terrible experience with slower speeds than on the copper wire alone. I've heard this from other friends who are also closer to the exchange and who have to reboot their hub constantly.

Hi Sarah,i live just off Haslemere Road and have very recently had fibre installed by TalkTalk.Whereas i was getting around 13Mbps on copper i am now getting between 23 and 50 Mbps,it's not as good as i hoped but at least has been reliable.
Good luck ,Fred

No sign of high speed in the Griggs Green area - cabinet is "Under Review" and has been for over 6 months now.

If you have BT Fibre then ditch the BT Home Hub this is the cause of the slow speeds and unreliability.
Change mine 2 weeks ago for TPLink VDSL router and now getting speeds as advertised by BT of 40Mbps and above

Just before everyone gets carried away, the single fibre only goes as far as the cabinet. It's still your old copper to the house and the further away you are from the cabinet the slower it gets.
But good advice and ditch the BT router and go for TPLink, Netgear or Draytek

I have BT Hub 5, Download around 46-52MB and upload of 10-12mb...Live more than half way down the Haslemere Road, seems fine with no drop outs.

Would love fibre optic broadband, but 10 weeks after placing an order for just a phone line (new build property), BT still haven't managed to connect us with even that. Useless company!

Just ran a test of our broadband speeds here in Passfield. We have a rather paltry 4.8 mb download speed and 0.2 mb upload speed. Couldn't be much lower really!
| | Passfield only has upto 8Mb broadband, with no current plans for the exchange to be upgraded, unfortunately. |

We live by the Infant and Junior schools and have just changed from Talk Talk ( which was disappointing) to EE fibre optic broadband. It's fab!
We get 30 MBPS but you can pay extra for 72 MBPS although the former is more than adequate for a family of 4 with umpteen tablets, computers, tv\'s & phones etc... Would recommend.

I live down Haslemere Rd. and recently switched to BT infinity. At first I had Infinity 2 which gave me 68mbs down/17Mbs. up. I realized after 2 days that the internet is not that fast and I was wasting money for that speed so I switched to Infinity 1 and I get 39Mbs down/9.5 Mbs up. More than enough. We just need the servers from the various providers to get faster now. Very pleased and saving some dosh.

Its so unfair that Longmoor Road, Haslemere Road and Passfield can have fibre broadband (although limited for passfield) but London Road can't. I have spoken to sky and they say they dont have a date to turn it on.
Has anyone else heard when we can get it?
thanks
