Carnival ! Petrol heads ! Motorcyclists and Interesting Cars need!!!
- Finchie (18th Oct 2014 - 10:09:41)

So just read some threads and rather than respond to the whole load of bitchin @ moanin - how about this as a positive idea ...

Let's help Karen out.

I always miss the car and bike day at the Deers Hut ever year for some reason - I think it falls on Mother's Day so duty always calls out of the area. Always gutted. So got me thinking ...

How about an "Interesting Vehicle" theme. Doesn't need to be a classic car. The only rule is it has to be interesting to you !! Anything goes - from a souped up Polo with banging bass in the boot and alloys (there you go Tom) - to an old farts motorcycle. I think that covers ever age and interest. Good opportunity to take part, get a couple of mates involved ( and clean and polish !!!).

I'm happy to dust off my old norton motorbike - to see if it can make it around the carnival ( I may be the one pushing later once it overheats - but I know there will be planty of help ).
AND I'd to meet fellow motorcyclists in Liphook. I know you exist - but don't know who you are.
I'm so excited now - I'll do it even do it if it rains !!!!!

I do remember one year a whole load of Honda Goldwings turned up - not my cup of tea - but still loved it. So it's been done before.

Plus I've seen some really interesting motors around. An older Mercedes with dropped suspension and fantastic wheels. Purple I think. I know your out there somewhere !!

I also got excited one year when Yolanda had her mini out a few years ago.

So come on folks anything goes - someone must have a Rodney Trotter-esq 3 wheeler !!!!

Something to think about this happy weekend !!

Cheers, Finchie

What a great idea! Would love to ride my bmw bike round the route, if I can get away early enough from entertaining the children during the afternoon.

So confirmation of logistics from The Boss

I personally will get to the avenue for 5.45 as have no chance at the 5pm judging. (And to be fair - floats deserve prizes more that us pitching up with no prep needed - other than a polish !). Means we might be at the end, but that's OK !

Anyone who wants to see the judging (or be judged). Get there for 4.45

See you there - brrm brrm ....

Cheers, Finchie

I have just been up there to drop a scout off , the atmosphere is great and we are looking forward to a decent night
if the whole Bike thread is Kosher then I am a member of a Midhurst based group that would leap at an event like this, not for any prizes but just for the sheer fun of participating
shame I didn't see this till to late to get the group together maybe next year

going to get up there now as Liphook should be proud of this event , love it or lose it

Go up there is nothing decent on the box

Huw, it would be great to have fellows motorcyclists there ! As I was Nobbie No-mates Norton rider.

Still, I've set the bar nice and low for next year - gotta beat getting to the post office - as just fell short before I conked out ! Sorry about the smoke folks !! It seems all the Fire engines were otherwise engaged at the front of the carnival !!!

Thoroughly enjoyable. Best conversation of the night was with the lovely lady who used to ride a Norton Dominator, in the days before compulsory crash helmets, and she used to have a massive blond bee hive. On returning home she said to her dad - I hit a hundred mph today. To which he replied I can tell. "How ?". From your hair - full of flies, midgies etc etc - a proper beehive !!!

Karen - yet another rocking success !! Top job.

Cheers, Finchie

I have been watching this post for a while about bikes being ridden with the carnival. My bikes were stuck in the garage, probably as a lot of others were. I saw you on your bike Finchie and fair play to you, you were not Billy no mates , you were doing something that we all thought about doing so....... Next year I will be there on the bike (as long as it's not cold Lol)

Well done Finchie. I was stood with my little girl and saw you go past, i tried to get a picture but you went by too quick :-)

Looking forward to your 'gang' riding with you next year (and getting past the post office.
