Inconsiderate dog owners
- SC (31st Aug 2014 - 13:15:37)

I find it unbelievable that some dog owners seem it reasonable to allow their pets to do their business on private lawns. Residents of Newtown Road are fed up with finding dogs muck on their lawns. It is a health hazard and particularly dangerous to young children. I will report to the police any guilty dog owners and urge others to do the same.

Unfortunately it is not just Newtown Road. We find it happening in The Avenue too!I think I know the culprit, just waiting to "catch" them at it.

Recreation ground, Radford park, Malthouse Meadows you name it a few dog owners really don't care.

i hate being tard with the same brush as the 'inconsiderate' dog owners of this village...but...

sadly its wherever there is grass in the village...and even some pavements...?

i live across the road from the millennium green, where i walk my dog and the amount of mess over there is nasty...

people are just too damn lazy...its got to the point where i want to stick 'cheap dog bags' to each dog bin then no-one has an excuse not to pick it up...?

no matter where i go in the village, i always have a pocket full of bags, and infact i gave someone one the other day and i didn't even have my dog with me...?

its a shame people don't think about the fact whether they would like it on their 'doorsteps'

I'm afraid this is happening everywhere, I believe nothing can be done to stop this, unless the dog and owner are caught on camera or cctv, correct me if I am wrong, ...I too am sick of treading in it, when I walk my dogs at night, when it's dark

.....some people have no respect for others!!

.....from a responsible dog owner

I totally agree with everything that is said and I am a dog owner. I walk the Avenue and other said roads and whenever my dog does have to mess on someones lawn I ensure I pick it up and to be honest I have even gone as far as to pick up someones else mess too. It drives me insane that dog owners are not clearing up after their beloved pooches. Come on everyone lets get this sorted its just not fair, you wouldn't like it if you came out of your house and found dog mess all over your lawn. DO THE RIGHT THING!!

Karen...while I admire your efforts, your dog should not be on someone else's lawn at all, let alone allowed to do their business on the lawn!

SC thank you for your reply but quite honestly some times it is unavoidable. Just remember I pick up after my dog and I get quite annoyed when peeps like myself get tied together with the same brush as those dog owners that don't even bother.

Karen

Why is it unavoidable. You should have control over your dog at all times. Dogs should not be allowed to enter other people's properties, let alone pooh on their lawns. If your dog is not trained to walk to heel, put it on a lead when in built up areas.

What exactly is the point of this thread, apart from having a general moan amongst yourselves?
Dog owners who care will continue to do the right thing and clean up after their pets.
And the dog owners you're grumbling about are going to continue in their own sweet way leaving it behind.
I'm sure they're not all going to suddenly log into Talkback and have an epiphany because of this thread, so it seems a bit of a waste of time to me - you're just preaching to the converted.
And as for reporting a dog pooing on your lawn to the police - I would be very interested to know what their response to that would be! I certainly wouldn't hold your breath!
My daughter nearly crashed her car into a very large breed dog which was standing in the middle of the Midhurst Road, and not for the first time - it regularly escaped it's garden and could have caused a very nasty accident indeed on several occasions, but the police weren't interested.
