BBC Television The Railway War
- Paul Robinson (23rd Jul 2014 - 15:12:28)

You will be interested to learn that Michael Portillo will be putting Liphook on the map in his latest television series on the railways in The Railway War.

The series will be shown on BBC every weekday between 4th and 8th August. In it our own Tony Rudgard talks about his father's role in training the military railway engineers in the Liphook Depot.

After transmission the series will be available on demand on BBC's iplayer. This will be followed later with a book about the series.

Tony has also contributed to the WWI exhibition currently on show at the Heritage Centre (first floor of the Millennium Centre).

Don't forget the first of this mini-series starts this evening and continues throughout this week!

I've now heard 'straight from the horses mouth' i.e., Tony Rudgard, that this programme will be aired tonight between 6 and 6.30pm and then, for some bizarre reason, the remaining 4 episodes will be aired between 6.30 - 7pm! (Tony will be featured in Tuesday evening's episode).
There will be a book and DVD available at some point following this series.
