bridge in liphook
- NICK (23rd Jul 2014 - 13:16:46)

Do we know why the bridge in liphook is being closed for 4 weeks for ?

Hi Nick, the roadworks section of our site is not showing any known closures of any bridges in Liphook. What have you seen and where ?

Re: bridge in liphook
- nick (23rd Jul 2014 - 13:52:12)

two signs each site of the bridge saying road closed from 4 aug for 4 weeks !!

Which bridge Nick ?

The big one next to station road do we have more than one ?

Oh yes, we have....

Bridge over Haslemere Road - on way to Haslemere
Bridge over the A3 on Headley Road
Bridge over the old A3 (B2070) just past the Links
Bridges over the A3 at both junctions

The only works listed for that area are, I guess it is the last one that will be causing the problem...

22 July - 22 Aug: Installation of surface and foul water sewers on Canada Way.

4 August - 6 Oct: Chiltley Way - gas connections - 'delays unlikely'

4 August - 6 Oct: Gunns Farm to Tanglewood gas works - High impact delays likely 'road closure'

I think this may have something to do with resurfacing road works proposed for the stretch of Midhurst Road from Gunns Farm to the railway bridge.

I am sure that the signs will have a date on them and local residents will have been sent notices advising alternative routes.

Well if we are being pedantic here there is also the the bridge in Devils Lane. But yes, there is a sign just on the corner of Station Road with the road closure.

Forgot that one - doh !

I live in Gunns Farm but have not received anything re road closure!!

Midhurst Road will be closed for 1 month from 4th August from the junction of Station Road to the junction of Gunns Farm.
The official diversion is via the Haslemere Road to Camelsdale then right on the Midhurst Road to Fernhurst then right along Vann Road to Hollycombe and then right back along the Midhurst Road to Liphook (approx. 11 miles!!) and vice-verse.
Not withstanding that I would imagine most people will use Haslemere Road and then Highfield Lane. Wouldn't recommend Devils Lane as very narrow and no passing places so you'll just end up having to reverse all the way back!
I have been in contact with the contractors (working on behalf of British Gas to replace the gas main along Midhurst Road) to suggest the official diversion route is unlikely to be used by locals but the junction of Haslemere Road and Highfield Lane is very dangerous and suggested a set of temporary three way traffic lights are installed for safety.
Still waiting for confirmation that this will be done, if they don't I would recommend everyone takes extreme care when turning at this junction.
All this information is readily available by clicking on the excellent link to the left headed "Local Roadworks".

Doesn't need 3 way lights there, all that will do is delay people further, never has needed them so why start now? Visibility is fine on the approaches, people like you that cause more hassle than we already have!

Another thread rfc turning into a slagging match, well done Dave.

Let\'s get back to the bridges, far more interesting, how about 4 more,
1 tunbridge lane
2 Burgh Hill Road, technically Bramshott but hey ho
3 Radford Bridge x 2 can remember walking over ithe old footbridge going to Bramshott school
4 railway bridge over the old county boundary lane

Anyone got anymore

Now people can use Devils Lane as it has brand new tarmac! Whiz up and down, no problem.

- Question 7 (24th Jul 2014 - 19:12:02)

Great, we can all have a practice, before we put the chicken farm development in! ;)

Lets see what mayhem is coursed when we have all the Berg traffic (at the moment) coming in through Haselmere Road!

Do not worry it will only double when the development is built (according to the developers?!)

Lets make Chiltley Lane /Devil Lane one way in the short term?

Come on Councillors, this is what you believe we want.

If we are lucky we can get are full allocation of housing for the 2028 plan sorted before Bordon application is approved and have the Bohunt manor application as well. Sure we could argue it is actually part of the National Park Allocation not Liphook and have another 200 houses.

SO HOW MANY HOUSES HAVE PETERSFIELD APPROVED NOW, 25% on the last Joint Core Information published.

Stop arguing about press cuttings and get a grip.

- Question 7 (24th Jul 2014 - 19:26:45)

Sorry what was I thinking, lets go the whole hog, come on traffic will be quiet on Sundays, lets build the Church for the Brethren as well! :)

Seriously, we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves on development, the community has to be united. These guys are business men, the more divided the community over 'which one?' the easier we make their opportunism.

Rant over you will be happy to know.

Will pedestrians still be able to walk over the bridge on the side pavement there does anybody know?

Got another couple of bridges for the Liphook collection.
I don't think the road has a name, but it's a narrow lane off the Haslemere Road, before the railway bridge on the left, linking up with Hewshott Lane, opposite Hewshott Grove.
First of all you cross a lovely little bridge over the Wey, then it becomes a deeply rutted, steeply uphill track, passing underneath the picturesque private overhead road belonging to the old Hewshott Manor, at first I thought it was a disused railway bridge, it has that look about it. It seems to be literally falling apart, so worth seeing it soon before its all gone.
It's a great off road cycle route but I've only managed to cycle all the way up it a couple of times, its that steep and rutted, I usually end up getting stuck.
