Any flat for sale in Liphook?
I have looked up online, all seem to be 'retirement flats'. I admit my crime of being of age below 55...If age discrimination is ok, can I legally exclude old people or youngsters from buying my property because of their age?!?! :/

We found it really hard to buy our flat because everything that was coming up was retirement.....made me so frustrated!

How much are you looking to spend?

Bush

Sorry can't help in your hunt for a home, but perhaps all those who frequent Talkback who cry out against plans for new development in the village should take heed and have a think about the fact that this person has spent six months looking for a property without success (and I am sure Bush is not alone in their hunt). But hey, we all know there are far too many properties in the village already........

- Anon (2nd Dec 2014 - 14:49:08)

At least 3 flats that I can immediately think of have come onto the market and sold during the time this post has been floating around - probably more.

Tried registering with estate agents or looking on Rightmove?!

Re: Wanted: 1 bedroom flat to buy in Liphook
- Bush (2nd Dec 2014 - 18:28:41)

Yes Anon, i'm registered with them all! for many months now. There are quite a few going as 'Retirement' flats, discrimination or what?
Not to mention the insane Londonshire asking prices...

Re: Wanted: 1 bedroom flat to buy in Liphook
- ellie (2nd Dec 2014 - 22:55:45)

i have looked today on Rightmove in Liphook and there a couple of non returement flats for sale in Liphook, but both2 bedrooms.
i have not noticed any developers selling flats as part of any new developments planned, the flats appear to be reserved for social housing.

Still in search for a one bedroom flat to buy in Liphook...
Any recommendations for local conveyancing (flat purchase) solicitors other than what's in the Online Directory?

Solicitors, Robert Tozzi At Burley and Geach Liphook or Roger Petch at Mackarness Lunt in Petersfield

I am still hoping a suitable flat will somehow become available soon...

Re: Wanted: 1 bedroom flat to buy in Liphook
- tony (9th Jun 2015 - 13:44:25)

Have you looked on Rightmove, there are a few 1 bedroom flats advertised on there at the moment.

Somehow I doubt anyone is going to want to cut a deal with you here on Talkback without registering or at least having at valuation with an estate agency first. There's even a 50% shared ownership up for sale (2 bedrooms) at under £100 thousand, I understand these are sometimes good deals for 1st time buyers. Good luck.

Re: Wanted: 1 bedroom flat to buy in Liphook
- Bush (11th Jun 2015 - 05:40:22)

Hi Tony,
Yes, I do check with the internet and agencies, nothing suitable so far...

I was not proposing to cut a deal on talkback or excluding any valuations.
It is possible to do away with agents' commission on finding the buyer (I'm here, contact details above) and do away with other estate agents' complications, delays, poor service and general grief.
I have also been told of occasions where agents hired by vendors act against both vendors and buyer interests.

Re: Wanted: 1 bedroom flat to buy in Liphook
- tony (11th Jun 2015 - 14:08:28)

Well yes, I think most estate agents only act for themselves, if you're trying to cut out the middle man then good luck to you. Last house I sold they got around £10,000 for showing one or two people round, to put it into perspective the solicitor got less than a grand and solicitors cost an arm and a leg themselves!

For some reason if an estate agent says a house is worth x everyone seems to believe it, but that and the hard sell seems to be about the only technical part to the job, the rest is done by the solicitor!

- judith (26th Aug 2015 - 21:44:52)

hi. I am struggling to find something to rent in liphhok , share your frustration in retirement properties and so few people renting without an agent, the estate agents seem to be the only winners here. I have been given 2 months notice as my landlord wants to sell so this will probably be on market soon. Definately need more affordable flats for rental and to buy in Liphook, not more large houses.
would you consider flat share
