Just picked up a juvenile hedgehog that was about to cross our road. Does anyone know of a rescue place for them in the area? This one is far too small to survive the winter. He's currently residing in a box with some cat food and water.
Help would be appreciated.

Hi Carole,
I think that the closest rescue centre is Hart:
http://www.hartwildlife.org.uk
They are based near Alton - make sure you ring them first so they know you are coming / can advise you.
They are always inundated with hedgehogs over winter so you could even speak to them about the possibility of fostering the hedgehog yourself :

Hope this helps! Good luck to your hog :-)

Forget the above, Houdini the hedgehog has managed to escape the box. Just about to find him somewhere to rest his head in the garage, and found the box lid pushed up a bit and no Houdini. Hope he finds somewhere safe to hide out.

found four small hedgehogs in my greenhouse this morning. No sign of Mum. Have tried to contact the Hart Wildlife centre in Alton all afternoon without success. Currently they look less than a week old, eyes closed but crawling about. They have spines but mostly white.
Have kept them where found with lots of dead leaves and garden rubbish, plus a dish of rainwater under a cardboard box and hope Mum returns tonight to feed them.
Hopefully the box entry is small enough to let Mum in and keep out predators.
Will try to contact help centres tomorrow.

Try soft food I e dog or cat food but nothing that has FiSH in it that makes them very poorly no milk or bread allowed try worms from the garden if all else fails take them to the vets on Bradley road or Jim Logan is very good he is at lemon grove surgery in Whitehill he always helps
