Dreams Come True

Bramshott Place Village residents help make Jamie’s Dream Come True. They were recently sent questionnaires asking their opinions about the facilties offered by the village, and for every questionnaire completed, £3 was given to Liphook based charity Dreams Come True, which arranges special treats and experiences for seriously ill children and teenagers. The excellent response to the questionnaires resulted in £300 being raised for the charity, which enabled a Dream Child to be chosen, and his particular dream realised.

He is 16 years old Jamie Connolly-Burnett, who comes from Gosport. Jamie suffers from a progressive neurological condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which means he has to use an electric wheelchair to get around, and a ventilator to breathe at night. His special enthusiasm is for gardens and flowers, and he is a keen plant pot gardener. However, Jamie had long cherished an ambition to go to the Chelsea Flower Show, a dream which came true, thanks to the Bramshott donation.

This was not just an ordinary trip, but a VIP visit on Members Day, when the show is only open to members of the Royal Horticultural Society. With the grounds less crowded, Jamie found it much easier to manoeuvre his wheelchair and get better views of the gardens and displays.

Jamie was accompanied on his trip to Chelsea Flower Show by his mum, dad, sister and a representative from Dreams Come True. His family were really delighted about the visit as sadly, Jamie's quality of life is deteriorating and he is now dependent on other people for his daily care. His paediatrician, Dr C Laidlaw of Solent NHS Trust, is also very pleased that Dreams Come True has been able to help, and says: "We offer you unreserved support for this as, in our view, such special treatment will improve Jamie's quality of life."

We all have our dreams, but Jamie really does deserve his special day and Bramshott Place Village residents have every reason to feel proud of themselves.

Bill Gair, Chief Executive of Urban Renaissance Villages, the developers of Bramshott Place Village and a resident himself, summed up the feeling of the residents. "We are a strong community here and it is important to us that we support local charities and are able to help others enjoy their lives as much as we do here. Dreams Come True is an inspiring charity and we are delighted that, with them, we could give Jamie such a wonderful experience."

Bramshott Place Village is an award-winning development designed for independent retirement living within a community of like-minded people, and consists of two and three bedroom cottages and apartments surrounded by a park and woodland estate. Residents' amenities include the Clubhouse with fitness suite, library, bar and restaurant, Village Manager, shop and healthcare facilities.

Further information about the homes available for sale at Bramshott Place Village is available from the marketing suite on 01428 722800, or by visiting www.bramshottplace.co.uk.
