Driver's Ordeal

A liphook woman was forced to drive two men, one of them wielding a knife, to the area of Portsmouth continental ferry port last week.

The 55 year old woman has not been named by police, who are investigating the incident. She was driving in Longmoor Road, Liphook, just before 10pm last Thursday and when she stopped for a red light, at temporary traffic lights close to Bohunt School, two men jumped into her silver VW Polo and ordered her to drive to the ferry.

One man jumped in to the front passenger seat. The second man, armed with a knife sat behind behind the woman in the back.

In the course of the journey, during which the woman drove erratically and at speed along the A3, A3M, A27 and M275, attempting to attract attention, she was slashed on the face.

Both men are described as foreign, with olive complexions, and neither spoke much English. The man in the front was aged 30 to 40 with long, bushy dark hair. He wore a dark coloured waist coat length leather jacket.

The man in the rear was in his early to mid twenties with dark hair. He wore a light coloured fleece with a hood over his head.

When the car needed the ferry port, the men ran off, and the woman drove to a nearby petrol station to phone police. A check of passengers at the ferry port failed to find the men.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw men of these descriptions in the Liphook or Portsmouth Continental Ferry area on Thursday night to contact Alton CID on 0845 045 45 45.
