The SP's Perform for Palls

Popular local band; The Strolling Players, played to a sell-out crowd of over 250 fans at Bohunt School on Saturday night to raise funds for local Hospice Service; Priority Palliative Care

The Strolling Players, www.thestrollingplayers.co.uk who prefer to be known as the SP's, were formed many years ago out of 2 local bands "The Keys" and "Station 360", and are so popular that the gig sold out within 1 day of being announced.

The band arrived on stage to tumultuous welcome and launched into their set which soon had the school hall rocking, after the second set the crowd were still yelling for more when the band finished with their popular self-penned "Miranda".

Lead singer Guy Roberts' father, John, was nursed by the local Specialist Nursing Service 'Palls' when he was terminally ill with cancer. Since then the Roberts family have been consistent in their fund raising efforts for this important local Service.

Specialist Nurse Manager of Palls, Jacinta Grange-Bennett, said, "Once again, we have to say a huge thank you to the Roberts family for another splendid fund raising event. Over the years they have done so much to raise awareness and funds on behalf of Palls and we are very grateful for all of their efforts. We would also like to thank the other band members, bass guitarist Gary Graham, drummer Andy Fawcett and multi talented Simon Whittle who gave a fantastic performance.

Sponsors of the evening included local firms, ADP Security of Petersfield, AJL Cars from Bordon, Kings Gym of Passfield and BCL Technical of Liphook. The bar was run by Liphook Football Club who will be making a donation.

All monies raised will be donated to Palls Palliative Care proposed Training Centre

Priority Pallative Care were the 2008 winners of the NHS South Central Strategic Health Authority Award for People's Experience. They were in the top 3 of the national award.
